Room 10's Enterprise journey

Wow! What a journey it has been this term with our enterprise. We started by focussing on rubbish and how it effects us. We looked at lots of ways we could help; recycling, reducing, reusing and upcycling. We looked at things we throw away but could use again!
This lead to our fantastic idea to turn old t-shirts into bags. This helps us reduce our use of plastic bags and also reusing something we would usually throw away and upcycle it into something we could use! Have a look at our journey and our final products!

After sewing, we bundled them up in spirals to tie dye!!

We are proud of them!!

Our messages!

Room 10 did a brainstorm of all the messages we wanted to tell the world about recycling to use on our upcycled t-shirts.

Then we used an app called 'Word Photo' to create our messages.
We think they look pretty cool and can't wait to put them on our bags!

Plastic bottle kayaks

We were all lucky enough to have a visit from some enterprising Pakuranga College students. They had an idea to reuse plastic bottles to make kayaks! They told us all about their learning adventure, how important reducing, reusing and recycling is and how they kept trying when things went wrong and persevered in the end!

We were so impressed. Check out their video and some of the photos from our visit!

Too much rubbish

Here are some things that Room 8 thought about to be enterprising about the problem of too much rubbish.

Room 10 reusing!

We had a big problem in Room 10. We had lots of old, torn books that we didn't want to throw out!  So we decided to be enterprising and come up with a solution.
It was hard to cut up books because we know how to treat them well, but we all decided it was better to give them a second life than to throw them away!
We've been looking a lot at reducing, reusing and recycling things, so we decided to use our collage skills to decorate and old table Miss Ladley had. Check out the photos, we are still covering it so watch this space for completed photos!
